A fisherman got caught with a firearm while fishing in a pond, and 4 more shotguns were found during a search.
Six firearms, including four new shotguns, have been recovered from a pond next to the Natore Deputy Commissioner’s bungalow. Police recovered these weapons with the help of divers from the city’s Kandivitua area on Friday afternoon. Police initially believe the recovered weapons are ‘illegal’. According to Natore Sadar Police Station sources, there is a Talabghat pond in the Kandivitua area between the Deputy Commissioner’s bungalow, the former jail, Sadar Police Station and Sadar Hospital. Two youths were fishing in this pond with a longbow. Suddenly, one of them’s longbows got stuck under the water. When the hunter went into the water to release the longbow, he saw a donla wrapped in a blanket and a single-barrel firearm. When the incident was reported to the police, the police went to the scene. Suspicious, the police called divers and searched the pond. At that time, four more new shotguns were found from the pond. It is believed that the terrorists threw the weapons into the pond and fled in the changed circumstances. Further investigation is underway. A general diary (GD) has been filed at the police station in this regard.”
